Ready to trade your screen time for green time? The Novice Naturalists Club is your digital campfire, a place where we explore, share discoveries, and get a little giddy about the great outdoors. All feel-good moments. Because there's always something new and awesome to be discovered.
We're all about finding the joy in nature every single day, no matter the weather. Maybe it's the secret life of a squirrel, the incredible journey of a monarch butterfly, a lunar eclipse or the sneaky way a mushroom sprouts up overnight.
There's no such thing as a dumb question here - we're all on this wild and wacky nature journey together, one leaf, feather, and fuzzy caterpillar at a time. And because we're powered by passion (and maybe a little bit of coffee), I've whipped up some fun nature-inspired merch for you, too, so you can get your nature on, literally.
Welcome to the club. Treat yourself to some nature therapy and have a beautiful day.
Alright, let's get your nature on. (No, seriously, I mean it.)
It's a big, cool, wonderful world out there. And totally worth celebrating.
The Novice Naturalists Club online shop is where we bring the wild — grab some fun stuff to wear and help out our earth while you're at it.
All designs are created by me. I love creating nature-inspired images for your mugs, tees and totes, specifically designed for folks like you who aren't afraid to get your boots muddy and who get excited about things like woodpeckers and constellations.
I'm not one for fancy schedules or big corporate announcements. I'm just like you, learning something new about nature every day.
So when I've got a fresh idea for a tee or a tote bag—inspired by a weird bug I find or a stunning sunset I see - I make it. And then I put it right here for you.
So go on, grab a tee. Grab a tote. And a mug. Because every time you do, you're not just getting some awesome swag; you're helping plant a new tree. Seriously. You buy a tee, we plant a tree. $1 of each product you purchase and enjoy is donated directly to reforestation projects locally and globally. It's the ultimate win-win.
Ready to get your nature on?
Throughout each month I'll share an awesome nature fact that inspired me and I think you'll love too...
Fun Nature Fact for September, 2025:
Did you know that otters hold hands while they sleep?
It's true! Sea otters will often "raft up" with other otters to sleep, but to keep from drifting away from their group, they'll link paws.
This keeps them together and ensures they don't float off into open water while they're catching some Z's. Some mother otters will even wrap their babies in kelp like a little blanket to keep them safe and sound.
So next time you're feeling lonely, just remember: somewhere out there, a bunch of otters are holding hands.

Hi, I'm Liz.
If you're wondering how I became overly excited by birds and the great outdoors, you can thank my parents, Bev and Cliff.
Growing up in Woodstock, Illinois, my mom and I attended National Audubon Society presentations on Sundays at our charming Woodstock Opera House.
We'd sit there in the dark, watching slide shows of birds I'd never seen before, marveling at their wild colors and listening to their songs. It was a little bit quirky, a little bit magical, and it completely hooked me.
Following the presentations we'd take a walk through Ryders Woods, our neighborhood conservation area, just a short walk from our house and practically our backyard. We'd talk about all the birds we'd just learned about while we strolled down the paths.
My dad, who was editor of National Wildlife Magazine, was always encouraging me to look for deer and other critters hiding in the woods. One of my favorite things we did was build and install little bluebird houses at our family farmhouse. We weren't just learning about ecosystems; we were actually getting our hands dirty and building a home for a tiny bird.
I even signed up for a birdwatching class as a freshman at Middlebury College just so I could spend more time in the Vermont woods, watching the snow geese migrations of the Northeast. It was an unforgettable way to learn.
After working in the global corporate world as a personal development director for organizations and companies including The International Olympic Committee and The Walt Disney Company, I realized that devoting myself full-time to the pursuit of nature education and nature conservation was where my real passion is, and that's how The Novice Naturalists Club came to be!
I'm very (very!) excited to share all the wondrous things I've learned about nature with you through my nature mini classes, masterclasses, photos and nature-inspired designs.
I hope you find your spark in nature today!
XOXOX
